Wednesday - The eve of 'Sleet-Close-Down-the-City-Day'

So, there have been reports and rumors that the 'pink' color on the weather map will be in our neck of the woods by the end of the week. So, of course because of those rumors, the schools are on a 2 hour delay...Which means that I will be on a two hour delay. The hard part about weather like this (or the potential for weather like this) is that if it really isn't a big deal then I'll go into work late and have to stay late. If it's a really big deal than I can look forward to craftiness coupled with laziness. I live by this philosophy - If you are really prepared (plenty of supplies like ice cream, popcorn, firelogs/wood, magazines and plenty of crafy ideas) then NOTHING will end up happening. If you DON"T have any supplies whatsoever, you'll be snowed in for weeks/months...So, I am somewhat prepared by accident of course, so I have no prediction at this time. My husband did say that we were already below freezing...so if all of the planets align we'll be slippy slidey when we wake up in the morning.

I have been reading a few blogs these days. I really like 'Poisey gets Cozy'. I just can't get over the picture of the sweet pubby (my language for puppie) on the main page. I also have to read Hillary Lang's blogs about her family and cutest crafts on her website Wee Wonderfuls. Because of these two blogs I found 'Thimble' and signed up for their 'button of the month' club. I received my first set of buttons - vintage birds. They are sooo cute and I can't wait to see my little goodies for February. You have to check out those pages. Hillary (wee wonderfuls) also lists a lot of blogs that she visits. They all seem to have nice pictures and I find myself wanting to see what they have to say daily!! I'll figure that I'll have mine figured out one of these days and my husband will help me find the way...He's the one responsible for finding this outlet for me, so he'll help me get it where I want it to evolve to...

Be cozy!!
No pictures today, but will post my creations from Sleet Land tomorrow!!

My Butterfly Inspiration!!

Here is the 3D feltie version of my neighbors drawing...Cute and fun...

Enjoy!!

It's Monday!!

Anyone into dream interpreting? I had such a vivid dream last night. It kinda had the 911 feel with me 'riding the building' to the ground...But I survived and woke up. I had a dream once where I knew that there was a storm coming. I was making sure that all of the family was going to be safe by boarding up the windows and we were all hiding under the table. I remember the dream like it was yesterday or that it really happened. I remember the storm being very loud and we could feel it coming as well as hearing it...I remember looking out the window and only seeing yellow - a bright yellow cloud that was blinding me as I looked at it. The dream I had last night felt like that one. I could paint the picture (if I could only paint) of how it looked and even what the people were wearing...It's really unsettling to me today. I'm sure that there is some sort of meaning - when I finish this blog I'll head to google and see...

Here are some of my matchbox creations for 'Swap Bot'. They are sure getting addictive - sooo small that everyone could decorate and fill even on a budget!!! The Cardinal is for the 'Winter bird' Swap that is coming up at the end of the month and the little felties are just a little fun from my crafy self - no purpose or 'swap' - just a little fun crafing!
Here's to a good night sleep!!

The End of the Weekend

I've had a nice and quiet weekend here in the casa. I cleaned up my crafty room so I might be motivated to do something creative. It didn't work until today. My neighbor's 5 year old daughter was coloring and drawing pictures. She was drawing pictures of the cutest butterflies for everyone. I asked where she learned to draw them. I told her that she was a artist. She replied that she knew that I could make one with all of the stuff in my crafty room. BAM! There was my inspiration!! I took her drawing and made it a pattern out of it and using her specific color requests (yes, even the red hearts on the wings) created the cutest little replica of her drawing out of felt. Complete with uneven wings, hearts on the wings and pink wire antenna (?)...Once I got it all done, packed it up in a cute pink bag and delivered it to her. She really liked it and I was thankful that she got me motivated again!!

Here's to the simplicity of children's thinking...

Here's to everyone being inspired and motivated by the thing/person that you least expect!!

First Training Week Complete!

Hey! I survived my first week. Actually it's been really great. I have met some great people there. They are very welcoming...But now I have the whole weekend to enjoy some sleepy time and some quality time with my man. Tax time will occupy some of my weekend. This is the first time that we will go to a 'service' to help. Usually we are like that commercial - we have a 'box' take care of our taxes. But now that my hubby has is own business and all...And we called ans they said that it would be better for us to file jointly this time...We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Anyway, I got my first swap today! A REALLY cute box filled with great buttons. She also included a chocolate heart and the cutest little finger pincushion. (I'll try to persuade my man to get the pictures put here...)

My latest fun find was one of those miniture LANE cedar chests. It was 4 dollars at the thrift store I found near the store where I'm training. I just thought that it was cute and couldn't leave it. When I got home my mother-in-law saw it and said that she and her entire graduating class got one from the LANE company. It brought some fond memories to her. I think that it's really nice and clean...I'm not sure what I'll put in it just yet or where I'll put it, but I'll come up with something I'm sure!!

Well, I'm really tired from driving and waking at 5am every morning, so I'll share more when I'm rested...

Enjoy the weekend!

Second day - new job training. If you don't have reason enough to stay with one job for the rest of your life, just having to deal with the 'first training day' on a new job will give you reason enough!! You know, filling out a new tax form, direct deposit forms, and all of those training videos...Great fun! And to think as you get older and get better higher paying jobs, you tend to have MORE videos and MORE first days!! I have six weeks of training for the company to make sure that I'm able to run the store without costing them too much money!! Well, the hour drive sure has made me a little calmer...I'm going to make sure that I leave the office at the office this time...It'll be a hard habit to break, but I'll make sure that I have OTHER things in my life to talk about...Maybe these crazy crafts will help!!

I got an email from my sister...She said for all of us to save CD- you know those free ones...She's got a craft up her sleeve I can feel it!! She has this uncanny ability to see the possibilities of anything - she can see what it CAN become no matter how far away that vision will take to come to fruition. She's amazing like that. We go thrift shopping and she will see the greatest item and BAM she has a vision of what it wants to be...While I'm still trying to catch up with her. I can find her by the lightbulb that is always floating above her head. I'm tellin' ya - the sister has a gift that just missed my genes altogether!!!

Must go wash my 'al black' training outfit (until my uniform shirts arrive - then there will be NO fashion needed at all) ...

Until next time!!

Monday, January 22, 2007

Hi to all! My husband keeps reminding me that I need to add to my blog...So, here we go...I had been out of work for about three weeks. I have been crafting till my hearts content. I logged into this site called Swap Bot and it's all been crafty land since then. I've made some great little match boxes, I've made some cute felt softies, I've embroidered some cute little birds, and have been thrift shopping for a swap. It sure has been fun.

Have you ever worked soo much that you just forgot how to be a human? How to carry on a conversation about day to day things? How to realize that there is more to life than work? Even though financially I really couldn't afford to be off work, it seems now that I just couldn't afford to continue at my last job. I've never really have ever decided to do something for me and my sanity like that before. It sure was scarey but I just have to say that I sure have recharged, re-energized and re-stratigized...When I started looking for another job, I could only remember one piece of advice that someone told me about - 'When you are eighty years old you'll never say, "I should've spent more time at work"'. I think that is really true. And I don't think that my family would ever say that about me either. Well, I started my new job today and am reminding myself to be a human and a good worker. It'll work this time. It has to. I am just too old to keep trying. So, I have enjoyed the time with my husband and I've enjoyed my crafty time and I've enjoyed my family time.

I really am in a good place with a good man and a good family...I can't miss out on the journey with them all!!

Okay, my next blog won't be so deep and intense...Maybe I'll show some pictures of all of those crafts I've been talking about!! I'll have you know that even after a long first day at work I came home and crafted - a cute little seahorse softie! I'll take a picture tomorrow!!

G'nite,
Jill
